WHAT DOES OCCUPATIONAL SCIENCE OFFER?

Occupational science offers us the chance to gain a better understanding of human occupation. This knowledge has the potential to contribute to various professional and academic fields (e.g. social sciences, health sciences, business and administration), and ultimately to help build healthier, more equitable, more prosperous communities.

FOR EXAMPLE…

  1. Generating knowledge about occupation would enlighten us about human existence and what people need to do, want to do, resist doing, and are passionate about doing.
  2. In generating knowledge about the occupations of youth, educational, social, corrections, and employment programs might discover new ways of enabling youth to discover their potential and new ways of organizing schools and youth centres.
  3. Knowledge about seniors’ occupations could inform social and economic planners about the most meaningful and least costly supports for the aging population.
